Lhere Artepe AC staff and directors visited HMAS Arunta whilst it was docked in Darwin over the weekend of 24th and 25th September 2022.

HMAS Arunta has a relationship with and carries the name of the Arrernte people of Central Australia and thus extended an invitation to Lhere Artepe AC to re-establish relationships.

The Ships Captain Mr Jason McBain along with Mr Victor Yee the ships Lieutenant Commander kindly invited us onto the war ship vessel and embarked upon a personal tour of the ship that culminated in a formal discussion in the Commanding Officers meeting room with senior officials of HMAS Arunta and the exchange of gifts.

In all a very welcoming and great experience to all involved and a huge thank you to HMAS Arunta Commander Jason McBain and all his wonderful crew whom greeted and treated us so kindly.

We look forward to the next opportunity to connect. In the meantime, we will be looking at ways to assist an Arrernte person to become involved on HMAS Arunta in some capacity and await their next visit to Alice Springs for ANZAC day Commemorations and hopefully the Henley On Todd again in partnership with LAAC.
